Dr. John Neufeld teaches on Philemon, “An Alternative Lifestyle.” The Christian ethic presents a new way of living that transforms all societal structures, including slavery. God wants us to forgive those who harm us, and if possible move beyond forgiveness to reconciliation.
Program 1: An Alternative Lifestyle
Summary: Much of our culture is harmful and destructive. Christians are called to do more than condemn what is wrong, but to live out an alternative. In order to make a difference, we are called to live a life of love within Christian community.
Program 2: The Nature of Christian Friendship
Summary: God calls us to engage in a loving relationship with people who are most unlike ourselves. This new kind of friendship is based upon a friendship in the gospel, where the interest we share is based on a common love for Christ and his work.
Program 3: Beyond Forgiveness
Summary:It is possible for Christian people in broken relationships not only to forgive, but to move beyond forgiveness to reconciliation. This can mean celebrating a rich and joyful friendship.
Program 4: What Reconciliation Looks Like
Summary: Reconciliation consists in both parties seeing the value of the other, and seeing how Christ has made the other useful in His kingdom.
Program 5: Marks of Reconciliation
Summary: People are genuinely reconciled when they are welcome in each others presence, when any old debts are paid in full, and when both parties are free to go beyond what is required to bless each other.
